hereby restrict this delegation so as to enable
the said Henry Hermann Lahman to exercise
the powers aforesaid only within the County
of Westland, as defined in "The County of
Westland Act, 1868."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington,
this twenty-seventh day of January, 1871.

Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by "The Lunatics Act,
1868," it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor in Council, from
time to time, to order and direct that all
or any of the powers, functions, duties, and
authorities vested in or required to be performed by the
Governor, or the Governor in Council, or the
Colonial Secretary, by the said Act, within any Province or other Dis-
trict of the Colony, shall be exercised or
performed by the Superintendent of any such
Province, or by any other person the Gov-
ernor may think fit; and thereupon such
functions, powers, duties, and authorities
may, by such Superintendent or other person,
be exercised or performed within the Province
or other District of the Colony specified:

Now therefore, His Excellency, Sir George
Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New
Zealand, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Colony, in
pursuance and in exercise of the power and
authority for that purpose vested in him,
doth hereby order and direct that all the
powers, functions, duties, and authorities
vested in or required to be performed by the
Governor, or the Governor in Council, or the
Colonial Secretary, by "The Lunatics Act,
1868," within the County of Westland, shall
be exercised by the Chairman of the Council
of the said County.

IT is hereby notified for general information
that the following scale of tolls, to be
charged upon the Arahura Road, was adopted
by the Council on the 26th January, 1871.

ON THE ARAHURA ROAD.

  1. For all drays and vehicles drawn
    by one horse ... 1 6
  2. For each additional horse ... 0 6
  3. Waggons or coaches, with four
    wheels, drawn by two horses ... 2 0
  4. For each additional horse ... 0 6
  5. Each horse ridden ... 1 0
  6. Each horse carrying pack ... 0 6
  7. Cattle and asses, per head ... 0 1
  8. Sheep, pigs, or goats, per head ... Free
  9. All carts carrying manure ... Free
  10. Contractors repairing road, and
    vehicles used by them ... Free
  11. All vehicles and horses carrying
    goods to and from the Tramway
    Station at Arahura ... Free
  12. All cattle passed through toll-
    gate to sale-yard, and disposed
    of, to be driven north ... Free
  13. All cattle passed through toll-
    gate to sale-yard, and disposed
    of, to be driven south by the
    beach, half the rates specified in
    charges 7 and 8.
  14. The above tolls will only be
    chargeable one way each day.
