IN pursuance and exercise of the power
and authority in me vested in this behalf
by the Regulations for the sale and disposal of
Waste Lands in the County of Westland, I
hereby reserve the lands in the said County of
Westland, the boundaries whereof are de-
scribed in the Schedule hereunto annexed, for
the uses of the Colonial Government, and
other public purposes, as in the said Schedule
is more particularly specified.

SCHEDULE.
Lot numbered sixty-five (65) (in red), sixty
acres, more or less, bounded on the Southward
by the town of Hokitika; on the Westward,
by Reserve No. 32 (in red); on the North-
ward, by a line ten chains distant from and
parallel to the Southern Boundary; and on
the Eastward by a line sixty-one chains from
and parallel to the Western boundary, subject
to a road: for Government purposes.
Lot number sixty-six (66) (in red), twenty-
one acres, more or less, situate near the mouth
of the Totara Kai Torea River; bounded on
the Southward and Eastward by the said
river; and on the Westward and Northward
by the sea beach and lagoon: for the purpose
of a Ferry.
PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS, by the 13th clause of
“The Gold Fields Act, 1866,” it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor to authorise the construction, by
private enterprise, of any Road, Bridge,
Wharf, Ferry, or other public work, for the
use and benefit of the public, and to permit
the occupation, for a limited period, of sites
for the same, and to provide for the payment
of such tolls for a limited period by all
persons using the same as he shall deem
reasonable:
And whereas, by the one hundred and
ninth Section of the said Act, it is enacted
that it shall be lawful for the Governor in
Council under his hand and the Public Seal
of the Colony, from time to time to delegate
to such person as the Governor may think
fit all or any of the powers vested in the
Governor by the said Act, except the powers
conferred by Sections twenty-two, forty,
forty-eight, sixty, ninety-six, and one
hundred and seven thereof, subject or not to
any limitations or restrictions as he may
think fit:
And whereas, by an instrument in writing,
dated the third day of February, 1869, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette of
the eighth day of February, 1869, His
Excellency the Governor did, under his hand
and the Public Seal of the Colony, delegate
unto me, Conrad Hoes, Chairman of the
County Council of the County of Westland,
all the powers vested in the Governor under
or by virtue of “The Gold Fields Act,
1866,” except the powers conferred by Sec-
tions eleven, twenty-two, thirty, thirty-
three, thirty-nine, forty, forty-eight, sixty,
ninety-six, and one hundred and seven of the
said Act, to have, hold, and exercise the said
powers hereby delegated to the said Conrad
Hoes within the County of Westland:
Now therefore, I, Conrad Hoes, Chairman
of the County Council of the County of
Westland, in exercise of the powers in that
behalf delegated to me, do hereby grant unto
Peter Nilson protection for twelve months
from the date hereof, for a track commencing
