months to six months during the said term of three years certain, but that if either party shall be desirous of obtaining an alteration of the term of such payment, it shall be lawful for the party desiring such alteration to give one month notice in writing to the other party before the expiration of the first or any subsequent term of six months during the said term of three years, of such be their desire; whereupon it shall be lawful for the said parties to meet and readjust the terms of payment.

  1. That the date of the payment of the aforesaid sum shall commence from the date of the coming into operation of this Bye Law, and all arrears shall be computed and settled between the parties herein named.

  2. That if any expenses shall be hereinafter required for driving, tunnels, or otherwise, not included in the foregoing arrangements, the sum shall be provided for by a special agreement to be made between the parties at the time.

The undersigned members of the “Jones’s Flat Mining Drainage Board” have concurred in the framing of this Bye Law No. 17.

BYE LAW No. 18.

At a meeting of the Mining Drainage Board of the District of Jones’s Flat, begun and holden at Ross, in the said District, on the 6th day of September, 1870, it was enacted as follows:—

That is to say—

Whereas the Mining Drainage Board of the District of Jones’s Flat, did grant, upon the application of the “Ross United Steam Drainage Company, Registered,” Drainage Area No. 1, on the 21st day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine, and for the purposes as provided in Bye Law No. 2 of the said Board, clause No. 4:

Now therefore, the said Mining Drainage Board for the District of Ross, as aforesaid, do enact that an equal rate of eightpence (8d) shall be levied weekly upon all rateable areas within Drainage Area No. 1 as aforesaid, payment of such rate to be due and payable to the clerk of the said Board, at his office, Aylmer-street, Ross, on Friday, the 23rd day of September, 1870, and such payments shall continue to be made each Friday, until otherwise ordered by the said Drainage Board.

Be it also ordered and directed by the said Mining Drainage Board, that from and after the coming into operation of this Bye Law; all the provisions contained in Bye Law No. 14 of the said Board, levying a rate of fourpence (4d), shall be and the same are hereby rescinded.

The undersigned members of the said Mining Drainage Board concurred in making the foregoing Bye Law No. 18.
