A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the third Section of "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, from time to time, by proclamation to constitute and appoint any portion of the Colony to be a goldfield under the provisions of the said Act, and the limits of such goldfield from time to time to alter as occasion may require:

And whereas by the 109th section of the said Act it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council, under his hand and the Public Seal of the Colony, from time to time to delegate to such person as the Governor may deem fit, all or any of the powers vested in the Governor, or Governor in Council, by the said Act, except the powers conferred by sections twenty-two, forty, forty-eight, sixty, ninety-six, and one hundred and seven thereof, subject or not to any limitations or restrictions as he may think fit:

And whereas by an instrument in writing, dated the twenty-first day of February last, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the seventh day of March last, His Excellency the Governor did, under his hand and the Public Seal of the Colony, delegate to me, Conrad Hoos, Chairman of the County Council of the County of Westland, all the powers vested in the Governor and the Governor in Council, under "The Goldfields Act, 1866," and "The Goldfields Act Amendment Act, 1869," except the powers conferred by sections twenty-two, forty, forty-eight, sixty, ninety-six, and one hundred and seven of "The Goldfields Act:"

And whereas by a proclamation bearing date the nineteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twentieth day of June in that year, the limits of the Westland Goldfields, as then proclaimed and constituted, were altered by excepting from and out of the said Goldfield, certain portions of land included within the boundaries of the town of Hokitika, the town of Greymouth, the town of Okarito East, the town of Okarito North, the town of Okarito South, as the same are respectively defined in the Schedule thereto annexed; and it was thereby proclaimed that all that portion of the Colony contained within the said County of Westland, with the exception of those portions of the Colony included within the boundaries of the towns aforesaid, should be a goldfield under "The Goldfields Act, 1866," to be called and known as the "Westland Goldfields:"

And whereas it is expedient to alter the limits of the said Goldfields in manner herein-after appearing:

Now therefore I, Conrad Hoos, Chairman of the County Council of Westland, in pursuance and in exercise of all powers and authorities vested in and delegated to me in this behalf, do hereby repeal the said proclamation of the nineteenth day of June, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, and in lieu thereof do enact as follows, that is to say—
