IT is hereby notified for general information that, at a Sitting of the County Council held on the 14th instant (adjourned from the 13th instant),

CONRAD HOOS, ESQ.,
was elected to the office of Chairman of the County Council, under the 65th Section of "The County of Westland Act, 1868."

THE HONOURABLE J. A. BONAR directs it to be notified that

FRANCIS BURTON, ESQ.,
has resigned as a member of the Jones's Flat Mining Drainage Board, and that he has appointed

WILLIAM ARCHER, ESQ.
of Ross, merchant, to be a member of the said Board, in the room of Francis Burton.

THE Chairman of the County Council directs it to be notified that

GEORGE SAMUEL SALE, ESQ.,
has by letter, dated 12th January, 1869, declined to act as Arbitrator for the County of Westland; which appointment was notified in The County of Westland Gazette, No. 25, of the 22nd December, 1868.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me under "The Canterbury and Westland Public Debt Apportionment Act, 1868," I, Conrad Hoos, Chairman of the County Council of the County of Westland, do hereby appoint

WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON, ESQ., J.P.
to be the Arbitrator for the County of Westland, under the said Act.

Given under my hand at Hokitika, this eighteenth day of January, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

I, CONRAD HOOS, Chairman of the County Council of the County of Westland, by virtue of the powers vested in me in that behalf under the sixth section of "The Marine Act, 1867," and "The Quarantine Regulations," class X., do hereby appoint the following gentlemen to be members of a Board of Health for the Port of Hokitika:—

E. Patten, Esq., Collector of Customs.
George C. Leming, Esq., Health Officer.
