PROCLAMATION
JAMES ALEXANDER BONAR,
a member
of the Legislative Council of the Colony
of New Zealand, by virtue of the powers in
that behalf delegated to me by His Excellency the Governor under "The Gold
Fields Act, 1866," do hereby authorise the occupation, for one year from the date hereof,
of the site upon which the Tramway from
Hokitika to the Kanieri is constructed,
namely, a strip of land about three miles
long and ten feet broad, leading from the
East Town Belt to the Kanieri Town-
ship; and do further authorise the collection for the period of one year from the
1st day of January, 1869, of the Tolls mentioned in the Schedule hereto attached.
All
tolls to be levied after the 31st day of December, 1869, to be fixed by notice to be
published hereafter in The County of Westland Gazette.
Given under my hand at Hokitika, this
twelfth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to appoint the following gentleman to be a Medical Assessor for the County
of Westland, under the provisions of "The
Medical Practitioners Act, 1867," viz.:

WHEREAS by the 29th Section of "The
Gold Fields Act, 1866," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council to demise for mining purposes
to any person, for any term not exceeding
fifteen years from the making of the lease,
certain auriferous Crown Lands not exceeding ten acres in the whole of alluvial ground,
and to grant sites for machinery and any
necessary easements for the purposes aforesaid, subject nevertheless to the conditions or
provisions in the said sections contained.
And whereas His Excellency Sir George
Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, did, on the eighth day of July, 1868,
with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, delegate to me, the
Honourable James Alexander Bonar, a member of the Legislative Council of the Colony
of New Zealand, the powers vested in him
by the said twenty-ninth section of "The
Gold Fields Act, 1866": Now, therefore,
I, James Alexander Bonar, a member of the
Legislative Council of the Colony of New
Zealand, in exercise of the powers vested in
me in that behalf, do hereby give notice that
on the tenth day of November, 1868, I intend
