A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Lunatics Act, 1868," it is enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time, by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, proclaim any house or building provided or deemed suitable for the reception of lunatics, and wholly or in part supported out of any money appropriated for the purpose by the General Assembly, or wholly or in part supported by or at the cost of any Province or County or other division of the Colony, a Public Asylum within the meaning of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony, do hereby proclaim
The Lunatic Asylum, situated in the Hospital Reserve, Hokitika,
being a house or building provided and deemed suitable for the reception of lunatics, and wholly or in part supported at the cost of the County of Westland, to be a Public Asylum within the meaning of "The Lunatics Act, 1868," aforesaid.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, at the Government House at Wellington; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, this ninth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of December, 1868.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS by "The Public Works Land Act," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council, to order that any public work to be defined in such Order shall be made, and that, after the publication of such Order in Council in the Government Gazette, the Governor may compulsorily take and permanently hold any such lands as may be necessary for the construction of such public work under the provisions of the said Act contained:
Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, by and with the consent of the Executive Council of the said Colony, doth hereby, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority in that behalf vested in him, order that the public work hereinafter defined shall be made—that is to say, that a public road shall be laid out and made over all that land described by the boundaries specified in the Schedule hereunto.
SCHEDULE.
A line commencing on the Christchurch Road at a point 1260 links, and bearing 123° 19' from Beach, traverse peg 25, following a line bearing 63° 50' for a distance of 250 links; thence following a line bearing 47° 30' for a distance of 475 links; and from thence following a line bearing 37° 50' to the Arahura River, and being of a width of 50 links on each side of the said line, all bearings magnetic and E. of N.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Chairman of the County Council until noon on Tuesday, the 29th instant, for printing the County of Westland Gazette, Proceedings of the County Council, and for the printing generally required for the County Council for the year 1869.
Specimen pages of the quality of paper, shewing the description of type proposed to be used must accompany each Tender.
The person or persons whose tender is accepted will be required to enter into a bond of £100 for the due performance of the contract.
Further particulars can be obtained at the Office of the Chairman of the County Council.
