WESTLAND GAZETTE.

HOKITIKA, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 1868.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The County of Westland Act, 1868,” it is enacted that the said Act shall come into operation upon such day as the Governor shall by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette direct:

Now, therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority in that behalf vested in me, do hereby proclaim and direct that “The County of Westland Act, 1868,” shall come into operation upon the first day of November, 1868.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, at the Government House, at Wellington; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, this twenty-first day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

THE Honourable James A. Bonar directs it to be notified that in pursuance of Section 66 of “The County of Westland Act, 1868,” the Westland County Council will meet in the Supreme Court House, Hokitika, on Wednesday, the 11th day of November instant, at the hour of 12 o’clock noon, and will proceed to put the said Act into operation.

THE Honourable James Alexander Bonar directs it to be notified that Monday next, the 9th instant, being the Birthday of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, will be observed as a Public Holiday. The Government Offices will be closed.
