Appointments and Notices




JOHN HALL, Member of the Executive Council of the Colony of New Zealand,

by virtue of the powers delegated to me under the Gold Fields Act 1866 by His Excellency the Governor,
do hereby authorise the occupation for one year from the 1st day of March 1868 of the site upon which the tramway known as the Rutherglen Tramway is constructed, being a strip of ground of about 1 mile and 50 chains long and 10 feet wide, leading from the Saltwater Township to the Rutherglen Township: and do further authorise the collection of the Tolls mentioned in the schedule hereto attached for the period of one year from the 1st March 1868 to the 28th February 1869.

Given under my hand at Hokitika, this twenty-fifth day of February, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

by virtue of the powers delegated to me in that behalf by His Excellency the Governor do hereby appoint GEORGE SAMUEL SALE Esquire to be Chief Commissioner of the Waste Lands Board of the County of Westland and JAMES ALEXANDER BONAR Esquire and MALCOLM FRASER Esquire to be Commissioners of the said Board. And I do further appoint the first and second Tuesday in every month to be the days on which sittings of the said Board shall be held at the hour of noon at the Land Office Hokitika. And I do further appoint that the first sitting of the said Board shall take place on Tuesday the 3rd day of March 1868.

by virtue of the powers delegated to me in that behalf by His Excellency the Governor, do hereby appoint WALTER SCOTT REID Esquire to be Chairman of the Westland Board of Education and WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON Esquire and GEORGE WILLIAM MOSS Esquire to be members of the said Board.

JOHN HALL,

by virtue of the powers delegated to me in that behalf by His Excellency the Governor, do hereby accept the resignation of ROBERT ABBOTT Esquire as Chairman of the Westland Board of Education and of ROBERT CALDWELL REID Esquire as member of the said Board, and I do further cancel the appointment of JOHN KISSLING Esquire as member of the said Board in consequence of his having left the County of Westland.
