tituled "The Local Boards Act, 1873," it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
inhabitants of any locality in the Province
of Wellington, exclusive of the inhabitants
of the towns of Wellington and Wanganui,
to apply by petition to the Superintendent
of the Province, praying that in such
locality a Board of Commissioners may be
appointed with the several powers and
authorities given by the said Act, and that
on receipt of any such petition, the Superintendent of the said Province may issue a
Proclamation declaring that the provisions
of the said Act shall come into force within
such locality, and that such locality shall
thereafter be termed a district: And
whereas a petition has been received by me
from the inhabitants of the locality, the
boundaries whereof are described in the
Schedule hereto, signed by the required
number of inhabitants, praying that the
land contained within the boundaries described in the said Schedule may be constituted a district under the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, William Fitzherbert,
Superintendent of the said Province of
Wellington, do hereby proclaim and declare that the block of land described in
the Schedule hereto, shall be, and the same
is hereby constituted a district under the
said Act, and that the said district shall
be called and known as "The Palmerston
North Local Board District," and that
the provisions of the said Act shall come
into force within the said Palmerston
North District from and after this date.

Wellington, this twenty-eighth
day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-six.

Palmerston North Local Board District.

All that portion of the township of
Palmerston, in the Manawatu District;
estimated to contain about 1180 acres;
bounded towards the north-east by sections
Nos. 182, 170, 380, 381, 382, 383, 384,
and 385, and by Native land; towards
the south-east by Native land, by a lagoon
and by a public reserve; towards the
south-west by sections Nos. 1032, 1031,
984, 983, 1007, 807, 1005, 806, 713, 712,
344, 309, and 294; and towards the
north-west by sections Nos. 309, 285, 277,
225, 240, 241, 242, 243, 244, 245, 246,
181, and 182.


Warrant.

By virtue of the provisions of the sixth
section of "The Impounding Act,
1874," I, William Fitzherbert, Superin-
tendent of the Province of Wellington, do
hereby appoint

T. M. Drummond

to be Pound-keeper at the "Awahuri
Pound," in the Manawatu District of the
Province of Wellington.

Given under my hand, at Wellington,
in the Province of Wellington,
this twenty-first day of February, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-six.

Proclamation.

By His Honor William Fitzherbert,
Esquire, C.M.G., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New
Zealand.

I, WILLIAM FITZHERBERT,
C.M.G., Superintendent
of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of
New Zealand, by virtue of the powers conferred upon me by "The Local Boards
Act, 1873," do hereby proclaim and appoint that a meeting of persons qualified
to vote for "Palmerston North District,"
under the said Act shall be held at the
School-house, Palmerston North, on Monday,
the 20th day of March, 1876, at
twelve o’clock noon, for the purpose of
electing five persons to constitute the
Board of Commissioners for the said
District.

And further I do hereby appoint Geo.
M. Snelson the Returning Officer at such
meeting for the election of Commissioners
aforesaid.

Given under my hand and issued under
the public seal of the Province of
Wellington, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of
February, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-six.

Sheep Inspector’s Report.

NOTICE has been received from the
Inspector of Sheep for the Rangitikei District that he has granted a Clean
Certificate to

Mr. John Cameron

for a mob of sheep, numbering 960, depasturing on Wakawari Station. Dated
17th instant.
