Sheep Inspector Report and Crown Grants

SHEEP INSPECTOR’S REPORT—continued.

Masterton, 13th January, 1876.

Sir—I have the honor to forward you my Report for the year ending 31st December, 1875.

Although the number of flocks infected with scab are very much less than last year, and even those that are infected are only so to a much slighter extent, still I very much regret that the Return shows so many flocks still infected.

Owing to the rough nature of many of the runs, on some of which there is a large proportion of bush, there is great difficulty in keeping the sheep clean, owing to the number of sheep that have taken to the bush at various times when scabby, and are frequently now coming out, and mixing with those already cleaned; but, as the sheep-owners have already erected a great deal of fencing, and are still erecting more, I trust that will have the effect of greatly reducing the list of infected runs by next year.

I have, &c.,

JOHN DRUMMOND,

Inspector of Sheep, East Coast District.

Henry Bunny, Esq.,
Provincial Secretary, Wellington.
