PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor Henry Bunny, Esq.,
Deputy Superintendent of the
Province of Wellington, in the
Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS by the 24th clause of "The Highways Act, 1874," it is enacted that "If from any cause the voters in any ward shall fail to elect a Warden, the Presiding Officer shall send to the Superintendent notice in writing of such failure, and thereupon the Superintendent shall appoint a Warden for such ward, and every Warden so appointed shall for the purposes of this Act be deemed to have been duly elected a Warden for such ward": and whereas I have received notice in writing from J. B. Reading, the Returning Officer, that at a meeting held on the 12th day of August, 1876, no Warden was elected for No. 5 ward of the Karori-Makara Highway District:
Now therefore I, Henry Bunny, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in virtue of the power vested in me, do hereby appoint
JOHN FORTESCUE EVELYN WRIGHT, Esq.,
to be Warden for the aforesaid No. 5 ward of the Karori-Makara Highway District.
Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.

Election of Wardens.
Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, Aug. 22nd, 1876.
NOTICE has been received at this office, under the hand of Mr. J. B. Reading, Presiding Officer, that the following gentlemen have been duly elected Wardens for respective wards of the Karori-Makara Highway District, viz.:
Mr. Henry Cook, for No. 1 Ward
Mr. James Bowler, for No. 2 Ward
Charles Christie Graham, Esq., for No. 3 Ward
Mr. Henry Page, for No. 4 Ward.
And also, notice having been received by His Honor the Deputy-Superintendent from Mr. J. B. Reading, the Returning Officer for the above-named district, that at a meeting held on the 12th day of August, instant, no Warden was elected for No. 5 Ward. His Honor the Deputy-Superintendent has been pleased to appoint John Fortescue Evelyn Wright, Esquire, Warden for No. 5 Ward.

HIS Honor the Deputy-Superintendent has appointed Saturday, the 2nd day of September next, at 2 o’clock p.m., for the first meeting of the Karori-Makara Highway Board, to be held at the Old Schoolhouse, Karori.
