THE following proclamations, received
from the Colonial Secretary of Tasmania, relative to Diseased Cattle Importation into that Colony, are published
for general information.

Diseased Cattle Importation.
By His Excellency Frederick Aloysius Weld, Esquire, Companion
of the Most Distinguished Order
of St. Michael and St. George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Colony of
Tasmania and its Dependencies.
A Proclamation.
WHEREAS by my Proclamation, dated
the fifth day of April last past, I,
Frederick Aloysius Weld, Esquire, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief as aforesaid,
by and with the advice of the Executive
Council, and by virtue of the powers conferred upon me (25 Victoria, No. 4), did
restrict the importation into any part of
Tasmania of cattle imported from any purpose other than slaughter from any part of
the Colonies of Victoria, New South
Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and
Western Australia: And whereas, by my
Proclamation, dated the seventh day of
April aforesaid, I, the said Frederick Aloysius Weld, Esquire, Governor and Commander-in-Chief as aforesaid, did, by and
with the advice of the Executive Council,
make further provision in respect of the
importation of cattle for any purpose
other than slaughter from the Colony of
New South Wales: And whereas it is
expedient to annul the lastly hereinbefore
recited Proclamation and to make other
provision in lieu thereof: Now therefore
I, Frederick Aloysius Weld, Esquire, Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of
St. Michael and St. George, Governor and
Commander-in-Chief as aforesaid, by and
with the advice of the Executive Council,
and by virtue of the power conferred on
me (25 Victoria, No. 4), do hereby annul
the said Proclamation dated the twelfth
day of April aforesaid, and further do by
this Proclamation prohibit the importation
into any part of Tasmania of all cattle imported for any purpose other than slaughter from any part of the Colonies of New
South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South
Australia, Western Australia, and New
Zealand, under the provisions of the firstly
hereinbefore recited Proclamation, unless
the owner of such cattle shall produce to
the Inspecting Officer appointed by the
Governor in Council, at the Port in Tasmania where the same shall arrive, a certificate in writing, signed by a duly qualified
Veterinary Surgeon, to the effect that
such Cattle were inspected and examined
by him immediately before shipment, and
that they were at the time they were so
inspected and examined by him free from
any contagious or infectious disease whatever which would be likely to propagate
amongst men or animals any such contagious or infectious disease or any other
disease.

Town, in Tasmania aforesaid, the
thirteenth day of December, one
thousand eight hundred and
seventy-five.

By his Excellency Frederick Aloysius Weld, Esquire, Companion
of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the
Colony of Tasmania and its
Dependencies.
A Proclamation.
WHEREAS with a view to prevent any
infectious or contagious distempers
or disease among Cattle, Sheep, and Pigs,
it is expedient to prohibit the importation
into Tasmania of the carcases of any such
animals exported from the Colonies of
New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland,
South Australia, Western Australia, or
New Zealand: Now therefore, I, Frederick
Aloysius Weld, Esquire, Companion of
the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George, Governor and
Commander-in-Chief as aforesaid, by virtue
of Section twenty-three of “The Customs
Act,” (25 Victoria, No. 3), and with the
advice of the Executive Council, do, with
a view to prevent infectious and contagious
distempers or disease among cattle, sheep,
and pigs, hereby prohibit the importation
into Tasmania of the carcases of any
cattle, sheep, or pigs which have been exported from the Colonies of New South
Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, or New Zealand, or any of them.
