Kuamahanga River; and towards the
west by the Taueru River.

Ward No. 5.

Towards the north by the Taueru River
and by the south boundaries of Ward No.
5; towards the east by a line bearing 197°
magnetic from the south-east corner of
Ward number 5 to the Pahaua River;
towards the south by the south boundaries
of the Masterton Highways District, between a point on the Pahaua River where
the east boundary strikes it, and the
mouth of the Huangaroa River; and towards the west by the Ruamahanga River.

Ward No. 6.

Bounded towards the north by the
Whareama River; towards the east by
the sea coast; towards the south by the
Pahaua River; and towards the west by
the east boundaries of Wards numbers
5 and 6, and by the Waihora Stream.

Bye-Law No. 7.

Bye-Law of the Council of the Borough
of Wanganui
, made under Special
Order of the said Council dated the fifteenth
day of December, 1874, confirmed the
twelfth day of January, 1875, and sealed
with the common seal of the said Borough
this thirteenth day of January, 1875:

In pursuance of the “Municipal Corporations Act, 1867,” the Council of the
Borough of Wanganui ordain as follows,
that is to say:—

  1. On and after the first day of March,
    1875, it shall not be lawful to use shingles
    or other combustible material for the roofing
    of buildings, or use any wooden building
    as a smoke house, within Cook’s Ward
    and Queen’s Ward, in the Borough of
    Wanganui.

  2. Any person offending against this
    Bye-Law shall forfeit and pay a penalty
    not exceeding Five pounds, and shall
    forthwith remove any Roof or part of any
    Roof which shall have rendered him liable
    to such penalty, and in the event of his
    failing so to do within twenty-four hours
    after a notice so to do shall have been left
    on the premises, he shall be liable to forfeit
    and pay a further penalty not exceeding
    Five pounds.

Clause No. 3 of Bye-Law No. 6 is hereby
repealed, and the following substituted in
lieu thereof:—The occupier for the time
being as aforesaid shall pay to the nightman such sum for each emptying of any
earth closet on the premises of such occupier, as the Council may from time to time
authorize him to charge. And the Council
may make such terms from time to time,
with any person or persons, for the supply
of earth for earth closets, as they may think
fit.

Passed the Council this twelfth day
of January, 1875.

Highway Construction Notice.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Rangitikei Highway Board has caused
Specifications, Maps, Plans, and Elevations
to be deposited for inspection at the Office
of the said Board at Marton, shewing a
road proposed to be constructed through
the properties of Messrs. Charles Cameron,
John McKay, and Archibald Cameron,
being sections numbers 54, 74, 78, and 69
in the Turakina District. And also a road
through the properties of Mr. George
Maunder and the Estate of John Lamberts,
being Sections or Blocks, numbers LXV.
and IX. Rangitikei district. And that
all persons affected by the proposed work
or undertaking are required to set forth in
writing addressed to the said Board, within
forty days from the publication of this
notice in the Gazette of the Province of
Wellington, all objections which they may
have to the said work or undertaking.
