Sir,

Masterton, 30th January, 1875.

I have the honor to forward the Report for the year ending 31st December, 1874.

I very much regret that the returns show so many Flocks in this District are infected with Scab.

Owing to the rough nature of many of the Runs, it will be a work of time to stamp out the Disease, as there is so great a difficulty in making a clean muster, partly owing to the difficulty of obtaining good Shepherds. But as all the owners of infected sheep are erecting a great deal of fencing, I trust the list of infected runs will be greatly reduced next year.

I have, &c.,

JOHN DRUMMOND,

Inspector of Sheep, East Coast District.

Henry Bunny, Esq.,

Provincial Secretary, Wellington.
