Proclamation.

By His Honor William Fitzherbert, Esquire, C.M.G., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by the eleventh Section of "The Protection of Animals Act, 1873," it is enacted that "No native game shall be hunted, shot, taken, or killed in any part of the Province, except during such months as may from time to time be proclaimed by the Superintendent, not exceeding four consecutive months in respect of each bird mentioned in the fifth schedule," Now, therefore I, William Fitzherbert, do hereby proclaim and appoint that it shall be lawful to hunt, shoot, take, or kill any of the birds enumerated in the said fifth Schedule of the "Protection of Animals Act, 1873," in the Province of Wellington during the months of April, May, June, and July, in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this Nineteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

THE Birds enumerated in the fifth Schedule of the "Protection of Animals Act, 1873," and referred to in the foregoing proclamation, are as follows:—

Greytown Local Board District.

PROCLAMATION

By His Honor William Fitzherbert, Esquire, C.M.G., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by an Act of the Provincial Council of the said Province of Wellington, Sess. XXIV, No. 5, intituled "The Local Boards Act, 1873," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the inhabitants of any locality in the Province of Wellington, exclusive of the inhabitants of the towns of Wellington and Wanganui, to apply by petition to the Superintendent of the Province, praying that in such locality a Board of Commissioners may be appointed with the several powers and authorities given by the said Act, and that on receipt of any such petition, the Superintendent of the said Province may issue a Proclamation declaring that the provisions of the said Act shall come into force within such locality, and that such locality shall thereafter be termed a district: And whereas a petition has been received by me from the inhabitants of the township of Greytown, signed by the required number of inhabitants, praying that the land contained within the boundaries hereinafter specified may be constituted a district under the said Act. Now, therefore, I, William Fitzherbert, Superintendent of the said Province of Wellington, do hereby proclaim and declare that the block of land bounded towards the North-east by the North-eastern boundary of section No. 18; township of Greytown by the Waiohine River, by section No. 40, and by the North-eastern boundary of the town and town belt of Greytown; towards the South-east by the South-eastern boundary of section No. 41, and by the South-eastern boundary of the town belt of Greytown; towards the South-west by the South-western boundary of the town and town belt of Greytown, and by a road line forming the South-western boundaries of sections Nos. 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 18; and towards the North-west by section No. 50, Morea Block, by sections Nos. 19, 20, and 38, township of Greytown aforesaid; and by the abutments of the public roads between sections Nos. 19 and 20, and between sections No. 20 and 33, shall be, and the same is hereby constituted a district under the said Act. That the said district shall be called and known as "The Greytown District," and that the provisions of the said Act shall come into force within the said Greytown District from and after this date.

Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this 20th day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

INFORMATION has been received at this office, under the hand of John Jordan, the Presiding Officer, that ARCHIBALD CAMERON, ESQ., has been duly elected a Warden for Ward No. 6, of the Rangitikei Highway District. Also, under the hand of Henry Clyland Field, the Presiding Officer, that MAJOR NATHANIEL GEORGE MORSE, has been duly elected a member for Ward No. 7 of the Wangaehu Highway District.
