SIR,—I have the honor to forward my Sheep Return for the year ending January, 1873. There is a slight decrease of Sheep compared with last year’s Return, which I believe is owing to the Lambs not being six months old in January last. The scab, I am sorry to say, has been a little on the increase, bush sheep having come out and joined the flocks again. Mr. Sutherland, of Pahaua, is fencing large paddocks so as to keep his sheep in hand when mustering, and I think he will stand a better chance of cleaning his sheep than hitherto. The Maori sheep at Long Bush were in a very bad state when last I visited them.
