Regulation No. 6.
Regulation as to Slaughter-Houses.
In pursuance of Subdivision 2 of Part VIII, Schedule 13, of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867," the Council of the Borough of Wanganui make the following regulations, that is to say:-

The annual sum to be paid for a license for every slaughter-house now in use within the Borough shall be twenty shillings (20s.), and for every slaughter-house to be hereafter opened forty shillings (40s.), such sums to be payable in advance; such license to commence on the first day of July in every year and end on the thirtieth day of June following.

It shall be the duty of the owner or lessee of any slaughter-house to provide the animals, while kept there, with a sufficient supply of water, to the satisfaction of any person appointed in that behalf by the Council.

That no cruelty shall be committed in any slaughter-house.

The owner or lessee of every slaughter-house shall keep the same in a cleanly and proper state, and remove all offal, refuse, and filth to such place as shall be prescribed from time to time by the Council.

That every slaughter-house shall at all times be open to the inspection of the Inspector of Nuisances, or such other person as may from time to time be appointed in that behalf by the Council.

Bye-Law of the Council of the Borough of Wanganui, made under Special Order of the said Council, dated the seventeenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, confirmed the twenty-fourth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, and sealed with the common seal of the said Borough this twenty-fourth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.
