The general condition of the flocks in the Wellington and West Coast district show a vast improvement on previous years, both as regards health and a much better class of sheep.

The flock owners are paying greater attention to breeding than formerly, and find it more profitable to have a smaller number of superior sheep than an overstocked run or farm with an inferior flock.
