Proclamation.

By His Honor William Fitzherbert,
Esquire, Superintendent of the
Province of Wellington, in the
Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by an Act of the Provincial Council of the Province of
Wellington, Session III, No. 8, intituled
"An Act to amend and consolidate the
law relating to Cattle Trespass and Impounding" it is enacted that the Superintendent of the said Province may from
time to time by Proclamation declare any
Pounds to be or cease to be Public Pounds
within the meaning of the said Act, and
may in like manner appoint, suspend,
remove, and reappoint keepers of such
Pounds: Now, therefore I, William
Fitzherbert, Superintendent of the said
Province, do hereby proclaim and declare
the Stockyard of John Kennedy, at the
Apokongaro Hotel, in the Makirikiri
District, left bank of the Wanganui
River, in the Province of Wellington,
aforesaid, to be a Public Pound within
the meaning of the said Act, and that
John Kennedy be the keeper thereof.

under the Public Seal of the

Wellington, this twenty-fifth
day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-two.

Province of Wellington, in the
Colony of New Zealand.

WILLIAM FITZHERBERT, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, by and with the advice and consent of my Executive Council, and by
virtue of the powers vested in me by an
Act of the Provincial Council of Wellington, Session 21, No. 6, intituled "The
Toll Gates Act, 1871," proclaim as follows:

That the amount of tolls to be levied
at the Toll Gate to be erected at the Hutt
Bridge, under the authority of such Act,
on and after the twenty-fifth day of
March, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-two, shall be as follows:—

For every vehicle propelled ... s. d.
along a road by steam or other
like power ... 5 0
For every four-wheeled vehicle
drawn by one horse ... 1 6
For every additional horse drawing such vehicle ... 0 6
For every two-wheeled vehicle
drawn by one horse ... 1 0
For every additional horse drawing such vehicle ... 0 6
For every horse saddled or harnessed ... 0 6
For every horse not harnessed ... 0 3
For every sheep, goat, or pig ... 0 1
For every foot passenger ... 0 1

This Schedule shall be read as if the
words mare, gelding, ass, mule, bull,
bullocks, cow, or calf, were inserted after
the word horse throughout. Every
vehicle having the tires of all its wheels
of a breadth of not less than five inches,
and so formed that a breadth of not less
than five inches comes in contact with
the ground on a firm cart-road, and every
horse drawing such vehicle shall be
chargeable with tolls at one half the rates
charged at the said Toll Bar.

been pleased to appoint

Mr. Andrew Seeberry,
to be Pilot at Manawatu. His appointment to date from the 1st day of April
next.
