Proclamation.

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson
Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in pursuance of the provisions of the hereinafter in part recited
Act, do hereby give notice that it is my
intention forthwith to enter into negotiations for the purchase from the Native
owners of the block or parcel of land
situate in the Province of Wellington,
and described as follows (that is to say):—

All that parcel of land commencing at
the mouth of the Paten River; and
thence along the north-western boundary
line of the Province, until it strikes the
northern boundary of the said Province,
and along said northern boundary to its
termination; thence along the eastern
boundary of the said Province until it
strikes the Manawatu Gorge, and thence
along the Tararua Range to the northern
boundary of the Wainui and Waikanae
Block; thence westerly along the said
northern boundary of the Wainui and
Waikanae Block to the sea coast; thence
northerly along the sea coast to the starting point.

Excellency Sir George Ferguson
Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of
the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty’s
Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this twenty-
first day of February, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-two.

Appointment.

His Honor the Superintendent has
been pleased to appoint

James Townsend,

to be Collector of Tolls at the Hutt Bridge
Toll Gate. Appointment to date from
Monday next, 25th Inst.

Public Notice.

Crown Lands Office,
Wellington, 6th March, 1872.

NOTICE is hereby given that 23,849
acres, more or less, of Pastoral Land,
in the Awhea and Pahaua Blocks, in the
East Coast District, subdivided into 30
sections, will be put up for sale by public
auction, at this office, on Wednesday,
the 17th day of April next, at one o’clock, p.m.
Plans of the Sections are open for inspection at this office.

Proclamation.

By His Honor William Fitzherbert,
Esquire, Superintendent
of the Province of Wellington,
in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by the Land Regulations
now in force in the Province of
Wellington, it is declared, that all reserves for the sites of townships, or town
and suburban land for the sites of agri-
cultural and small farm settlements, or
for any other purpose of public advantage, safety, convenience, health, or enjoyment shall be determined by the Superintendent, who shall notify the same by
Proclamation, wherein the objects shall
be specified for which every reserve may
be made: And whereas it would be of
public advantage if a certain section of
land in the township of Palmerston, in
the Manawatu district, was set apart as a
reserve for a Court House: Now, there-
fore I, William Fitzherbert, Superinten-
dent of the Province of Wellington, in
virtue of the power and authority in me
vested in this behalf, do hereby proclaim
and declare that town section No. 489,
containing one (1) acre more or less, and
situated in the township of Palmerston,
in the Manawatu district aforesaid is
hereby reserved and set apart by me as a
site for the erection of a Court House
and other buildings connected with the
administration of justice.

under the Public Seal of the
Province of Wellington, at Wel-
ington, this twenty-first day of
March, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-two.

Quarantine Ground.

NOTICE.

I, WILLIAM FITZHERBERT, Superin-
tendent of the Province of Welling-
ton, do hereby, in compliance with the
recommendation of the Board of Health
of the Port of Port Nicholson, appoint
the water frontage around Soames’ Island,
within half-a-mile from the shores, in the
harbour of Port Nicholson, to be a sta-
tion or place for the performance of
Quarantine, in addition to the Island, as
notified in the Provincial Governmen
t Gazette of the 6th January, 1869.
