PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor WILLIAM FITZHERBERT, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS by an Act of the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, shortly intituled “The Highways Act, 1871,” it enacted that so much of the said Province of Wellington as is included in the several Districts therein mentioned, viz.:—Wanganui and Waitotara, Wangaehu, Rangitikei, Manawatu, Featherston, Castle Point, Wellington, and Masterton, shall be divided into the said several Highway Districts, the boundaries whereof are set forth in the second schedule to the said Act.
And whereas it is further enacted by the said Act that each of the before-mentioned Highway Districts shall be divided into Wards by the Superintendent with the advice of his Executive Council, who shall from time to time by Proclamation in the Government Gazette, define the boundaries of such Wards. Provided that the number of Wards in any District shall never be less than seven:
Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM FITZHERBERT, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, do hereby, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said above recited Act, proclaim and declare that each of the several Highway Districts mentioned in the schedule hereto shall be divided into Wards, the boundaries whereof are respectively set forth after the name of each such District in the said schedule hereto. And I do hereby, with the like advice and consent, define the said boundaries, and declare the same to be the boundaries of the said several Wards respectively.
Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Wellington, this First day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.
