Proclamation.
By His Honor William Fitzherbert,
Esquire, Superintendent of the
Province of Wellington, in the
Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS by the third section of
the Act of the General Assembly of
New Zealand shortly intituled “The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871,” it is
enacted that the Superintendent of any
Province upon the recommendation of the
Provincial Council, may from time to time
by Proclamation declare that any or all of
the parts of this Act numbered two, three,
four, five, six, and seven shall extend and
apply to any Highway District constituted
or to be constituted, by or under any
Provincial Act heretofore or hereafter to
be passed, or to the inhabitants, ratepayers, or governing body of any such
district as the case may require, and upon
such day as shall be fixed, in and by any
such Proclamation, the part or parts therein specified, shall be in force in and as to
such Highway District or with regard to
the inhabitants, ratepayers, or governing
body of such district as the case may
require.
And whereas the Provincial Council of
the Province of Wellington did, on Thursday the 2nd day of May, 1872, agree to
the following resolution viz.:—
That this Council hereby recommends
the Superintendent of the Province of
Wellington, by Proclamation to be issued
by him with the advice and consent of his
Executive Council for the time being, to
declare that all the parts of “The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871,”
numbered two, three, four, five, six, and
seven shall extend and apply to all the
Highway Districts constituted under “The
District Highways Act, 1871,” and to the
inhabitants, ratepayers, and governing
body of each such district, upon such day
as shall be fixed in and by such Proclamation.
Now therefore, I, William Fitzherbert,
Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand,
with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Province, do
hereby proclaim and declare that on and
after the first day of July, 1872, all the
parts of “The Highway Boards Empowering Act, 1871,” numbered two, three, four,
five, six, and seven shall extend and apply
to all the Highway Districts constituted
under the Act of the Provincial Council of
Wellington, shortly intituled “The District
Highways Act, 1871,” and to the inhabitants, ratepayers, and governing body of
each such district.
Given under my hand and issued
under the Public Seal of the
Province of Wellington, at
Wellington, this seventh day of
June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.
