Proclamation.
By His Honor William Fitzherbert, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington in the Colony of New Zealand.
I, WILLIAM FITZHERBERT, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, by and with the advice and consent of my Executive Council, and by virtue of the powers vested in me by an Act of the Provincial Council of Wellington, Session 21, No. 6, intituled “The Toll Gates Act, 1871,” proclaim as follows:—
1st. That on and after the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two, “The Wanganui Toll Gate Act, 1869,” shall be and is hereby repealed.
2nd. That the amount of tolls to be levied at the Toll Gate already erected under the authority of such Act, on and after the said first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two, shall be as follows:—
| For every vehicle propelled along a road by steam or other like power ... 5 0
| For every four-wheeled vehicle drawn by one horse ... 1 6
| For every additional horse drawing such vehicle ... 0 6
| For every two-wheeled vehicle drawn by one horse ... 1 0
| For every additional horse drawing such vehicle ... 0 6
| For every horse saddled or harnessed ... 0 6
| For every horse not harnessed ... 0 3
| For every sheep, goat, or pig ... 0 1
This schedule shall be read as if the words, mare, gelding, ass, mule, bull, bullock, cow, or calf, were inserted after the word horse throughout. Every vehicle having the tires of all its wheels of a breadth of not less than five inches, and so formed that a breadth of not less than five inches comes in contact with the ground on a firm cart-road, and every horse drawing such vehicle shall be chargeable with tolls at one half the rates charged at the said Toll Bar.
Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington at Wellington, this 16th day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

Sheep Inspector’s Report.
Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 18th Dec., 1871.
NOTICE has been received from the Inspector of Sheep for the East Coast district that he has granted a clean certificate to
MESSRS. MANSELL & YORKE, Pakouli.
Dated 6th November.
Also, that he has cancelled the clean certificate of
DUNCAN CAMERON, Blairlogie.
Dated 25th October, 1871.
