Note.—To be stamped and executed according to the English law.

  1. Children between one and twelve years, half-price. Babies under twelve months, free.

  2. Assisted passages will be afforded only to persons of the labouring class.

  3. No person will be allowed assistance unless he or she shall have been approved by the Agent-General in England.

  4. No single man above the age of 45 years, no persons above the age of 50 years unless a member of a large family, and no person above 60 under any circumstances, will be allowed assistance.

  5. All persons receiving assistance must be of sound mind, good health, and good character.

  6. Free passages will be provided for single women accustomed to domestic service who can bring satisfactory proof of good character, and who are between the ages of 15 and 35.

  7. In certain other cases, with a view to the introduction of skilled labour in connection with capital for the establishment of woollen, linen, paper, or other manufactories, free passages will be given, of the conditions of which the Agent-General in England will from time to time be advised.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued at Wellington, this third day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

Karori-Makara Road District.

NOTICE is hereby given that at the expiration of three calendar months after the publication of this notice, the Karori-Makara Road Board, constituted, and acting under the provisions of an Act of the Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, made and passed in the thirty-first year of the Reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and intituled "The District Highways Act, 1867," intend to discontinue that part of a certain Highway in the said District which is hereinafter particularly described (that is to say) All that part of a certain highway leading along the sections respectively numbered 40 and 41 on the plan of the said district, and situated on the north-western side of the said highway, and along the section numbered 44 on the plan of the said district, and situated on the south-eastern side of the said highway, which commences at a point measured seven hundred and fifty links, little more or less, from the north-eastern corner of the said section numbered 44, and extending thence to a point measured two hundred and sixty-four links, little more or less, from the north-western corner of the said section numbered 44 on the south-eastern side of the said highway, and which commences at a point measured eight hundred and seventy-five links, little more or less, from the south-eastern corner of the said section numbered 40, and extends from thence to a point measured one thousand and eighty-three links, little more or less, from the south-eastern corner of the said section numbered 41, on the north-western side of the said highway,

Notice is hereby further given that from and after the expiration of three calendar months, computed from the publication of this notice, the part of the said highway heretofore partly described will cease to be a highway within the said district.

Reclaimed Land Act.

THE following Act, passed by the Provincial Council and reserved by the Superintendent of the Province of Wellington for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon, intituled "The Wellington Reclaimed Land Act, 1871,"
having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency has been pleased to assent to the same.
