Public Holiday.

Superintendent’s Office,
Wellington, May 12, 1871.

It is hereby notified that Wednesday,
the 17th May, will be observed as a
holiday at the Provincial Offices, in honor
of the departure of the Honourable Dr.
Featherston, in the Nevada, for England.

Sheep Inspector’s Report.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, May 10th, 1871.

It has been notified to this Office by the
Inspector of Sheep for the Wairarapa
District that he has granted clean certificates to the following flockowners viz.:—

  • Mr. Abraham Harris, Houtokara.
    Dated April 24, 1871.

  • Messrs. R. and A. Cockburn, Low
    Manain. Dated March 27, 1871.

Also, that he has cancelled the clean
certificates of the following owners, viz.:—

  • Messrs. T. and W. Batchelor, Opaki.
    Dated March 1st, 1871.

  • Mr. Duncan Morrison, Glenmorvin.
    Dated April 6th, 1871.

  • Mr. J. M. Jury, Ahiaruhi. Dated
    April 14, 1871.

  • Mr. Wm. Welch, Opaki. Dated
    March 25, 1871.

  • J. V. Smith, Masterton. Dated
    April 28, 1871.

Proclamation.

By His Honor William Fitzherbert Esquire Superintendent of the Province of Wellington in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by an Act of the Provincial Council of the said Province of Wellington Session III No. 8 intituled “An Act to amend and consolidate the law relating to Cattle Trespass and Impounding” it is enacted that the Superintendent of the said Province may from time to time by proclamation declare any pounds to be or cease to be public pounds within the meaning of the said Act and may in like manner appoint suspend remove and reappoint keepers of such pounds Now therefore I William Fitzherbert Superintendent of the said Province do hereby proclaim and declare the stockyard of Mr. Henry Kells Hotel-keeper Karori in the Province of Wellington aforesaid to be a public pound within the meaning of the said Act and that Mr. Henry Kells be the keeper thereof.

Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington at Wellington this twelfth day of May one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.
