Polling Places.

To All to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting:

Whereas by "The Regulations of Elections Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, by warrant under his hand, from time to time to appoint polling places for each Electoral District, within or without the limits thereof, and to appoint any one of such places to be the principal polling place for the district, and all or any of such polling places at any time to abolish, and to appoint other polling places in lieu thereof: And whereas, by warrant under the hand of the Governor, certain places were appointed polling places for the election of Superintendent and Members of the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington:

And whereas it is expedient to abolish the same:

Now know, ye that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the power and authority in me vested by the said Act, do hereby abolish the above-named polling places for the Province of Wellington, for the election of Superintendent and Members of the Provincial Council, and do appoint in lieu thereof respectively:

For the City of Wellington District.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The Public Market Place of Bethune and Hunter.

For the Hutt District.
The Mechanics’ Institute, Lower Hutt.
The Stockade, Lower Hutt.
The School House, Wai-nui-o-mata.

For the Porirua District.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court, Wellington.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court, Otaki.
The Premises of Mr. Stace, Pauatahanui.
The Premises of Mr. Thomas Floyd, near the Ferry.
The Premises of Mr. Taylor, Johnsonville.

For the Karori and Makara District.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court, Wellington.
The School House, Karori.
The Premises of Mr. P. Trotter, Makara.
The Premises of J. F. E. Wright, Esq., Ohiro.

For the Wairarapa East District.
The School House, Masterton.
The Premises of Mr. T. Guthrie, Castle Point.
The Premises of Mr. J. Crips, Whareama.
The Premises of Messrs. Smith and Revans, Huangarua.
The Premises of Mr. P. Hume, Tuanui.
The Premises of Mr. A. Nichol, Tinui.

For the Wairarapa West District.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court, Greytown.
The School House, Masterton.
The School House, Carterton.
The School House, Featherston.

For the Manawatu District.
The Court House, Otaki.
The Court House, Foxton.

For the Rangitikei District.
The Court House, Lower Rangitikei.
The Court House, Marton.
The Court House, Turakina.

For the Wangaehu District.
The School House, Kaitoke, on No. 1 line.
The School House, Putiki.
The Residence of Mr. John McGregor, on No. 3 line.

For the Wanganui Town District.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court House, Wanganui.

For the Waitotara and Kai Iwi District.
The School House on the Industrial School Reserve, Wanganui.
Messrs. Moore and Currie’s Barn, Kai Iwi.

And I do further appoint the polling places hereunder to be the principal polling places for the said districts respectively, viz.:

For the City of Wellington District.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court.

For the Hutt District.
The Mechanics’ Institute, Lower Hutt.

For the Porirua District.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court, Wellington.

For the Karori and Makara District.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court, Wellington.

For the Wairarapa East District.
The School House, Masterton.

For the Wairarapa West District.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court Greytown.

For the Manawatu District.
The Court House, Otaki.

For the Rangitikei District.
The Court House, Lower Rangitikei.

For the Wangaehu District.
The School House, Kaitoke, on No. 1 line.

For the Wanganui Town District.
The Resident Magistrate’s Court House, Wanganui.

For the Waitotara and Kai Iwi District.
The School House on the Industrial School Reserve, Wanganui.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same: and issued at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of May, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.
