The list of flock owners for the Wellington District up to the present date gives a Return of 169 Europeans and 15 Natives.

The number of sheep returned by Europeans, 70,693; and by Natives, 3,650, making the total assessment, at one half penny per head per annum, £154 17s. 7½d., on 74,343 sheep.

Scab has greatly diminished since the last yearly returns, and the only flocks under scabby report at the present time are

Mr. Luxford, Sear., Berhampore
Mrs. Macmanaman, Terawiti
Major Edwards, Porirua.

On the 14th, 15th, and 16th inst all the flocks at Terawiti were carefully inspected, and I am glad to report that no symptoms of scab were then visible, the sheep having been well dressed, and every precaution taken to effect a cure.

Mr. Luxford’s flock, and also Major Edwards’ flock have been thoroughly dressed.

Taking the district throughout, I consider it in a fair way to be soon free from disease.

R. D. WALLACE,
Inspector.
