East Masterton School District.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor Isaac Earl Featherston, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by an Act of the Second Session of the Provincial Council of Wellington, No. 6, intituled “An Act to promote the establishment of Common Schools in the Province of Wellington” it is enacted that for the purposes of the said Act it should be lawful for the Superintendent by Proclamation to divide the Province into Districts, and from time to time to sub-divide such Districts and to re-unite any subdivisions, and also by Proclamation to declare that such Act should come into operation within such district or sub-division at such time as he might appoint. And whereas it is deemed expedient to proclaim that portion of the Province within the boundaries herein-after set forth to be a district for the purposes of the said Act. Now therefore I, Isaac Earl Featherston, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in virtue of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that such portion of the said Province as is comprised within the following boundaries shall form and constitute a District for the purposes of the said Act to be called the “East Masterton School District,” which said District shall be bounded as follows:—

The Boundary commences at the South Western point of Section No. 49, Manaia Block, on the banks of the Waingawa River, thence North Easterly in a straight line to a point on the Southern boundary of section No. 65, Opaki Block, distant 85 chains from its South East corner, thence Easterly along the Southern boundary of the said section and across a public road to the North West corner of Section No. 1, thence Southerly to the South West corner of the said Section, thence Easterly along the Southern boundary of said Section to the Ruamahunga River, thence down the Ruamahunga River to its junction with the Waingawa River, thence up the Waingawa River to the starting point. As delineated in the plan drawn in the margin hereof or hereunto annexed.

And also that the said Act shall come into operation within such district on the day of the date hereof.

Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this first day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.

Featherston School District.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 1st November, 1867.

It has been notified to this office, that at a meeting held at the School House, Featherston, on the 28th October last, a School Committee was formed consisting of the following gentlemen, viz:—

Mr. Walter Hodder
Mr. Joseph Hodder
Mr. Buckridge
Mr. Nicol
Mr. Bunny
Mr. Carkeek, Chairman.

Also, That a rate of one pound per house within the District of Featherston was levied for the support of the School thereof, and that

Mr. Robert Blade
was appointed Collector of such rate.

Proposed alteration in the Boundaries of the Featherston Highway District.

NOTICE is hereby given that application has been made to His Honor the Superintendent, to exclude from the Featherston Highway District, all the land South of the Owahanga River and Section 463; and notice is hereby further given that at the expiration of the period of six months the said land will be excluded by proclamation, unless sufficient cause to the contrary be shown in the meanwhile.

Proposed alteration of Lower Rangitikei and Makirikiri Highway Districts.

Wellington, 1st November, 1867.

NOTICE is hereby given that application has been made to His Honor the Superintendent to proclaim the following lands, at present situate in the Lower Rangitikei Highway District to be removed therefrom, and added to the Makirikiri Highway District, viz., 57a, 34, 35, 36, 40, 41, 42, all bounded on the South by the Great North Western Trunk Road; and notice is hereby further given that at the expiration of the period of six months the said proclamation will be issued, unless sufficient cause to the contrary be shown in the meanwhile.
