NOTICE has been given to this Office under the hand of Hy. Damant, Chairman, that at a meeting of Ratepayers held on Monday, the 9th inst., the following persons, viz.:

Mr. Francis Fisk, and
Mr. Charles Maidment

were elected Wardens of the above District, in place of

Mr. John White, and
Mr. Niel Cameron

who had resigned.

In the matter of the Petition of HENRY CARPENTER, of the City of Wellington, Grocer, now a prisoner in Her Majesty’s gaol at Wellington for debt, a bankrupt:

On Thursday, the eighth day of November, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six:

UPON reading the Petition and Schedules thereto annexed, and the affidavits therewith filed, and upon hearing Mr. Buckley of Counsel for the Petitioner, and Mr. Borlase of Counsel for the detaining creditor, It is ordered that the above-named Petition be set down for hearing at Wellington on Tuesday, the fifteenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, and that Wednesday, the twelfth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six be the day appointed for a meeting of the creditors of the said Petitioner at the Grand Jury Room of the Supreme Court House, Wellington, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, for the purpose of recommending a Trustee to the estate of the said Petitioner:

It is further ordered that Alfred Abraham Barnett, of the City of Wellington, Auctioneer, be appointed Sequestrator of the estate and effects of the said Petitioner on his giving security for the
