stable acting under the authority of these
Regulations, every person so offending shall
and may be seized and detained by such
person so acting as aforesaid, or any person
or persons he may call to his assistance, until
such offender or offenders can be taken before
two Justices of the Peace, and shall be liable
to a penalty of fifty pounds.

January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.

£100 REWARD.
WHEREAS by the breaking out of the
disease called Pleuro-pneumonia among the cattle in the Province of Otago,
it is necessary strictly to enforce the prohibition of the introduction of cattle into the
Province of Canterbury from the said Province either by land or sea: and whereas
certain Regulations to this effect have been
issued by His Honor the Superintendent:
Notice is hereby given that a reward of
£100 will be given to any person who shall
give such information as shall lead to the
conviction of any person who shall drive or
remove, or cause to be driven or removed,
or assist in driving or removing, any cattle
from the said infected district into the Province of Canterbury.

PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor John Perry Robinson,
Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of
New Zealand, &c., &c.
In pursuance of the power in me vested
I do hereby proclaim and declare that
from and after the day of the date hereof
the District of Twofold Bay, in the Colony of
New South Wales, shall be deemed to be
an Infected District within the meaning of
the “Diseased Cattle Act, 1861,” and that
no Cattle shall be allowed to be imported
from that District into the Province of Nelson.

Province, this Fifth day of
February, One thousand eight
hundred and sixty-four.

PROCLAMATION.
By Robert Graham, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, in
the Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS, by the “Diseased Cattle
Act, 1861,” it was provided that
the Governor in Council might by warrant
under his hand from time to time delegate
to the Superintendent of any Province within
the Colony of New Zealand, all or any of
the powers vested in the Governor or Governor in Council by the said Act, subject to
such regulations as he might think fit, and
might from time to time rescind such delegation; and whereas the said Governor hath,
with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, delegated to Robert Graham, Esq.,
so long as he shall hold the office of Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, the
several powers vested in the said Governor
by the second, fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth,
and tenth sections of the said Act, subject to
being rescinded as in the said Act provided,
and subject to the regulations issued by the
Governor in Council, on the first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, and to any other regulations to be from
time to time duly made.
Now, therefore, I, the said Robert Graham,
by virtue of such powers in me vested do
hereby proclaim and declare,—That after
the date hereof, the several Provinces of
New Zealand following, viz.:—Otago and
Southland, also the Districts of Twofold Bay
and Jervis Bay in Australia, shall be deemed
to be, for the purposes of the above recited
Act, infected districts within the meaning
of the said Act, and no cattle shall be
allowed to be imported from the above
mentioned districts into the Province of
Auckland, until further notice: and that in
case any cattle shall be imported from the
said districts contrary to this Proclamation,
such cattle shall be destroyed forthwith in
such manner and at such places as the
Superintendent may proclaim and appoint.

this fourth day of February, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.
