NOTICE has been given to this Office, under the hand of the Chairman, that at a meeting duly held at the house of Mr. J. Booth, on the 5th December, the following rate payers were elected a Board of Wardens for the South Karori District.

NOTICE is hereby given that a Minor Jury Sitting of the Supreme Court will be held for the dispatch of business at the Court House, Lambton-quay, Wellington, on Monday, the 2nd day of January, 1865, at ten o’clock in the forenoon.

In the matter of the Petition of James Thompson, on the eight day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.

ON reading the Petition and affidavit of Izard, of counsel for the Petitioner: It is ordered that this petition be heard before His Honor Mr. Justice Johnston, at Wellington, on the fifteenth day of January next, at the Supreme Court House, Wellington, at ten o’clock in the forenoon, and that the petitioner do attend for examination at the time and place aforesaid, and it is ordered that in the meantime, or until such hearing the person and estate of the petitioner be protected from arrest, except the person of the petitioner in such cases as would render him liable to arrest on other grounds. And it is further ordered that until the further order of this Court, the Estate and effects of the petitioner shall rest in Robert Rodger Strang, Esq., Registrar of this Honorable Court, to be held by him subject to such further order.

Notice to Mariners;

General Post Office,
Auckland, 16th November, 1864.

THE following Notices issued by the Marine Board relative to the light to be exhibited on the Island of Tiri Tiri Matangi, and the Buoy in the Shearer’s Rock, are published for general information.

READER WOOD,

Lighthouse, Tiri Tiri Matangi, Hauraki Gulf.

The Lighthouse is in course of construction on the S.E. end of Tiri Tiri, in latitude 36° 36’ 30” S., longitude 174° 55’ 15” E., will be lit from sun set to sun rise, from and after 1st January, 1865.

The Tower is of iron, 48 feet high, painted light red color, and the focal plane of the lantern is 300 feet above high water mark.

The illuminating apparatus is Dioptric of the 2nd order, showing a fixed white light all round the horizon, which may be seen from the deck of a vessel in clear weather at a distance of 23½ nautical miles.

Buoy on Shearer’s Rock.

Notice is also given that a red buoy has been laid in 14 fathoms N.N.E. of, and close to the Shearer’s Rock, distant from the Lighthouse about one mile, with the following magnetic bearings:—Southern extreme of Tiri Tiri, S. 53° W.; Northern extreme of Tiri Tiri, S. 67° W.
