Dropping the Time Ball.

Wellington, 7th March, 1864.
TO MASTERS OF SHIPS AND OTHERS.
NOTICE is hereby given, that on and after Wednesday next, the 9th instant, the Time Ball at the Custom House will be dropped on each and every day, Sundays excepted.
The Ball will be hoisted half mast high at ten minutes before 12, to the mast head at five minutes before 12, and will fall precisely at 12 o’clock at noon, Wellington mean time.

Female Immigration.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Provincial Government is prepared to make arrangements for introducing a limited number of females from the United Kingdom as domestic servants under the supervision of Miss Rye.
Applications will be received by Mr. J. Knowles from parties desirous of engaging such servants, each applicant being required to become bound to pay half the expense of the passage of the servant upon arrival, such moiety of expense being estimated not to exceed Ten Pounds (£10.)

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the following Appointments, viz. :—
In the Hutt and Wairarapa Districts.
Captain H. Cleland to be Adjutant of Militia and Volunteers. Date of Commission—23rd February, 1864.
In the “Greytown” Rifle Volunteers.
Ensign William Udy to be Lieutenant. Date of Commission—15th February, 1864.

Sale of Valuable Building Allotments in the Town of Wellington, New Zealand.

UNDER authority of an Act, Session III, No. 14, of the Provincial Council of Wellington, intituled “Harbour Reserves,” and of an Act, Session VIII, No. 3, of the said Provincial Council, intituled “Harbour Reserves Amendment” Notice is hereby given that the following Allotments of Land, situated in the Town of Wellington, will be offered for sale at Public Auction, at the Office of the Provincial Treasury at Wellington, on Wednesday the 1st day of June, 1864, at one o’clock p.m., at the upset prices affixed in the subjoined Schedule :—
Immediate payment in cash of one-tenth of the purchase money shall be the condition of any such sale by auction, and the remaining nine-tenths of the purchase money must be paid by the purchaser within one calendar month next after the time of such sale by auction, or the one-tenth of the purchase money which has been deposited will be forfeited, and the original contract for the sale of the land will thenceforward be null and void.
Any further conditions will be published either on, or before, the day of sale. In the meantime, plans may be obtained, and plans inspected, on application at the Office of the Provincial Secretary, Wellington.
