Signals at Te Aro.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 6th February, 1863.

THE following letter is published for general information.

J. WOODWARD,
Acting Provincial Secretary.

Wellington, February 2, 1863

To the Provincial Secretary,
Wellington.

Having erected a signal station on the premises known as the "Brick House," nearly at the bottom of Tory Street (in close proximity to the new public house in course of erection there, or now nearly completed by Mr. Archibald, and in a direct line from the signal station at Mount Albert) it is my intention to repeat, with accuracy and regularity, the signals as they are put up there, on and after THURSDAY, the 5th of February 1863.

The signals are of a sufficient size, and will be placed at such a height as to enable them to be seen clearly by the greater portion of the inhabitants of Te Aro, to whom this signal station will doubtless prove a benefit.

As I am enabled to carry on the above without any remuneration, my only hope is, that the Government may so far express its approval of the same as to give publicity to the fact in the next Government Gazette.

I have the honor to be, &c.,

Your obedient servant,

JOHN T. PLATT.
