the Chief Marine Board, is published
for general information.

Notice to Mariners.

Report made by Captain Gibson, S. Ship
Auckland, of a rock said to exist near
Napier, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand,
not laid down in the Admiralty Charts.
11th August, 1863. 7.45 Weighed;
8, set on full speed and rounded Ahuriri
Bluff; 8.20 a.m. ship heading S.E. by E.
grazed a rock without stopping her head-
way, immediately stopped the engines,
closed the valves in the water tight bulk-
heads, and sounded each compartment;
Depth of Water alongside 9 fathoms;
tide three quarters ebb; ship’s draught
forward 11 ft., aft 12 ft. 6 inches; Com-
pass bearing taken immediately after
striking North Eastern extreme of Ahu-
riri Bluff, West; Cape Kidnappers, S.E.
having no deviation with the ship, head-
ing S.E. by E. I can confidently state
the bearings to be correct.
8.30 a.m. finding the ship making no
water proceeded at half speed, hand lead
kept going, and pump wells sounded
till noon.

Diseased Cattle Regulations.—Nelson.

IN compliance with the request of His
Honor the Superintendent of Nelson,
the following Proclamation, &c., under
the “Diseased Cattle Act, 1861,” is re-
published from the Gazette for general
information.

PROCLAMATION.

Under “The Diseased Cattle Act, 1861.”
By His Honor John Perry Robinson,
Esquire, Superintendent
of the Province of Nelson, in
the Islands of New Zealand,
etc., etc., etc.

WHEREAS, by a Proclamation dated.
the Twelfth day of December,
1861, I, John Perry Robinson, Superin-
tendent of Nelson, did declare and pro-
claim that the Colonies of Australia, that
is to say, the Colony of Victoria, of New
South Wales, of Queensland, of South
Australia, and of Western Australia, as
well as the Colony of Tasmania, and the
Colony of the Cape of Good Hope, should
be deemed to be for the purposes of the
“Diseased Cattle Act, 1861,” infected
districts, and whereas it is expedient to
revoke the said Proclamation, so far as
regards the Colonies and places hereinafter
named.
Now therefore, I John Perry Robinson,
by virtue of the powers vested in me by
a Warrant of the Governor, issued under
the provisions of the said Act, do hereby
revoke the said Proclamation, in so far
as the same as relates to the Colonies of
South Australia and Tasmania, and the
District of Twofold Bay in the Colony of
New South Wales, and I do hereby de-
clare that the said Colonies and District
shall not, from the date thereof, until fur-
ther notice, be deemed infected Districts
for the purposes of the said Act, and
that subject to the regulations hereinafter
annexed and to any regulations that may
from time to time be in force in that be-
half, cattle may be imported into the
Province of Nelson from the said Colo-
nies and District.

under the Public Seal of
the Province, at Nelson, this
Eleventh day of August, in the
year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-three

The following Regulation is to be ob-
served with respect to all cattle imported
into the Province of Nelson, New
Zealand, from the Colonies of South
Australia and Tasmania, and the District
of Twofold Bay, New South Wales.

Before any Cattle which shall have
been shipped from any port or place
in the Colonies of South Australia,
or Tasmania, or in the District of
Twofold Bay, in New South Wales,
are inspected by any Inspector of
Diseased Cattle for the Port or place
in the Province of Nelson at which
it is desired to land such Cattle,
such Inspector shall require from
the master of the vessel bringing
such cattle a certificate from the In-
spector of Cattle, or if there be no
such Inspector, then from the Col-
