NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that
on and after the 22nd day of August next, all that Block of Land, being
part of the Reserve made by the Commissioner of Crown Lands, by a public Notice dated 4th October, 1854; in the
Rangitiki District, the boundaries of
which are more particularly described in
the Schedule hereto annexed, will be
open for selection at the Crown Land
Office, Wellington, under the Land
Regulations of the 4th March, 1853, and
the Additional Land Regulations of the
15th February 1855.

SCHEDULE.
Part of Agricultural Reserve, Rangitiki
District—Contents about 7,500 Acres.
Bounded North by Sections, Nos. 1, 3,
4, 33, 32, and 31 in the said Reserve;
East, by Blocks, Nos. V and IV; and
by a line from Block IV to Rangitiki
Hill, South West by a line running from
Rangitoto Hill to the Southern corner of
Rhodes’ Block at Otakapu, West by
Rhodes’ Block and Section No. 57
Turikina District.

NOTICE is Hereby Given that on and
after the 22nd day of August next, the
piece of land in the Rangitiki District, the
boundaries of which are more fully described in the Schedule hereunto annexed,
will be open for selection, at the Land
Office, Wellington; under the Land Regulations of the 4th March, 1853, and the
Additional Land Regulations of the 15th
February, 1855.

SCHEDULE.
Rangitiki District—Contents, 700 Acres.
Bounded North by Mount William
Ridge; East, by the Tutaenui Stream,
and by Block, No. 1; South, by a Ridge
running from Block, No. 1 to Rangitoto
Hill; and on the West by the Boundary of the Agricultural Reserve.
PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Esquire, Superintendent of
the Province of Wellington, in the
Islands of New Zealand.
WHEREAS in the Fourth Session of
the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, a Committee of the
said Council was appointed—“To enquire
into the past, present, and proposed Government arrangements for the promotion of Immigration and to report thereon;
and, also whether any improvements
could be suggested whereby a large
amount of Immigration of an equally
desirable description could be secured at
less cost to the Provincial Revenue.”
And Whereas such Committee made
their report which on being brought up
was adopted by the said Council.
And Whereas the Committee by their
report recommended that a remission
of twenty-five per cent of the whole
amount of the passage money to the
Immigrant, upon payment of the balance
of his promissory note given for the passage money, should be allowed; and the
said Committee also proposed that such
remission should be made in land and
urged upon the Council to recommend to
the Government that an amount of available land should be reserved to satisfy
the claims.
And Whereas by the “Additional
Land Regulations of 1855,” it is provided
that “All Reserves for the sites of townships or town and suburban land, for the
sites of agricultural and small farm settlements, or for any other purpose of public
advantage, safety, convenience, health or
enjoyment shall be determined by the
Superintendent, who shall notify the same
by Proclamation, wherein the objects
shall be specified for which every reserve
may be made.”
And Whereas it is expedient that the
block of land hereinafter described should
be reserved from sale in order to enable
the Superintendent to carry out the Recommendation of the said Council:
Now THEREFORE I, ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, Do hereby Proclaim that the Block of Land situate in
the District of the Three Mile Bush
comprised within the following boundaries, namely:—On the North by a straight
line running from the Three Mile Bush
road Eastwards eighty chains, commencing and partly running along the Southern
boundary of Section, No. 142; on
the Eastward by a straight line eighty
chains from and parallel to the Three
Mile Bush road; on the Southward by
a straight line eighty chains in length
from last line to Three Mile Bush road;
and on the Westward by the Three Mile
Bush road,—is reserved for the purpose
of satisfying the claims to be made
in pursuance of the recommendation of
the Committee of the Provincial Council
above referred to.

under the Public Seal of the
Province of Wellington, this
Twelfth day of July, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-nine.
