PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Islands of New Zealand.

I, ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, aforesaid, Do Hereby Proclaim and Notify that the Block of Land at Waikanae, known as the Mataihuka Block,—the boundaries of which are hereinafter mentioned, excepting certain reserves, will be open for purchase and selection under the regulations of the Fourth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three, and additional Land Regulations, on and after the twenty-second day of August now next. The boundaries of the Mataihuka Block are as follows:—A line commencing on the Sea Coast, at the mouth of the Whareroa stream; thence along the Sea Coast in a Northerly direction to Wharemauku and on to Pakahu; thence striking inland in a South-Westerly direction, and crossing to Hakakohia-a-Toheahumu, it proceeds in a direct line over the mountain ranges to Tararua, to the boundary of the land formerly ceded by Ngatikahungunu to the Crown, following the said boundary to the Southern end of Paparauponga; thence striking off towards the Kape-Kape, and on to Te Ahihura; thence descending to Te Pahoahoa on the Whareroa stream, and following the said stream to its mouth, excepting the following reserves:—

  1. Wharemauku.................................. 200 acres
  2. Tamati Te Whakapakeke’s Reserve at Whareoa... 50 "

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this seventh day of July, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-nine.
