THE following Circular addressed to the Receiver of Land Revenue, and by him forwarded to the Superintendent’s Department, is published for general information, together with the Act of 1858 therein referred to.

Sir,
I have the honor to call your attention to the provisions of the Land Revenue Appropriation Act, 1858, under which it is necessary that, as from the 31st December, 1857, all receipts arising from the disposal of the Waste Lands of the Crown shall be accounted for to the General Government; and, subject to the payments prescribed by the Act, shall be paid over to the Provincial Treasury under the Governor’s Warrant.
And I have to request that you will, with the least possible delay, forward to the Colonial Treasury accounts of your receipts, and of your payments to the Provincial Treasurer, for the three quarters ended 30th September, 1858; supported by the usual abstracts and vouchers.
I have further to request that you will continue to forward such accounts, quarterly, to the Colonial Treasury.

AN ACT to Appropriate the Revenue arising from the Disposal of the Waste Lands of the Crown in New Zealand.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand, in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
I. All the Revenue and Receipts which have arisen from the sale, letting, disposal, and occupation of the Waste Lands of the Crown from the 1st day of July, 1856, to the 31st day of December, 1857, inclusive, shall be deemed and taken to have been Revenue belonging to the several Provinces of New Zealand in which the same shall respectively have arisen, and to have been subject to the appropriation of the respective Provincial Councils thereof accordingly.
II. All such Revenue and Receipts as shall have arisen from the said 31st day of December, 1857, until the coming into operation of this Act, shall be disposed of in the same manner as is herein provided in respect of such Revenue and Receipts as shall hereafter arise.
