NOTICE.
Election of One Member of the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington.

To Wit.
WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of Isaac Earl Featherston, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, and under the public seal of the Province, bearing date the Fifteenth day of October, One thousand Eight hundred and Fifty-six, hath been directed to me, Henry St. Hill, Esquire, Returning Officer for the "City of Wellington," requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the Voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, One Person to serve as a Member for the "City of Wellington" in the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, in the place of John Dorset, deceased, late a member for the "City of Wellington" in the said Council :
Now therefore, I, the said Henry St. Hill, Returning Officer for the "City of Wellington" aforesaid, do hereby, in pursuance of the said writ, give notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the "City of Wellington" aforesaid, will be holden at the Resident Magistrate's Court, Lambton Quay, on Monday, the Third day of November next, at Noon, for the purpose of nominating One Person to serve as a Member for the "City of Wellington," in the said Council, in the place of the said John Dorset; and in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or any of them, such polling shall take place at the Resident Magistrate's Court, aforesaid, on Tuesday, the Fourth day of November next : the voting to commence at any time after nine o'clock in the forenoon of the said day, and to close at four o'clock in the afternoon of the said day.

NOTICE.
To the Holders of Runs in the Province of Wellington.
ALL Persons occupying awarded Runs on the Waste Lands within the Province of Wellington, and who have not already done so, are required to send in the Plans and approximate estimates of Acreage of their Runs, in accordance with Regulation XI, Condition 1, of the Additional Regulations for the Province, before the 1st day of February next; and also to pay all arrears of Rent from the date when the award of such Runs may have been Gazetted. In case of any person neglecting to forward such plan and estimate, and to pay such arrears, he will be held to have abandoned his claim to such Run, and the same will be considered open to selection by other applicants.
The Plans and Estimates to be sent in as follows :—
For the District lately in charge of Mr. Domett (north of the Warehama river), to be sent to Mr. Tiffen, District Surveyor, or to the Chief Land Commissioner at Wellington.
For the Wairarapa and East Coast, and all south of the Warehama river (late in charge of Mr. Bell), to the Chief Land Commissioner at Wellington.
For the Wanganui, Turakina, and Rangitikei, to the Chief Land Commissioner at Wellington.
All Rents to be paid to the Chief Land Commissioner, at his office, Thorndon Flat, Wellington.

Extract from the Land Regulations above referred to.
"No License whatever shall be issued until the approximate accuracy of the computation of the acreage of the run shall be certified to the satisfaction of the Commissioner, and endorsed on a plan thereof, which plan shall exhibit as nearly as may be the boundaries of the run, and shall be attached to the license. The applicant is bound to obtain such certificate and plan at his expense."

ALEXANDER JOHNSTON, ESQUIRE, of Wellington, has duly qualified as a Medical Practitioner, under the Act of the Provincial Council passed on the 14th January, 1855, entitled "An Act to establish a Medical Board, and to declare who shall be deemed a qualified Medical Practitioner within the Province."
