HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR has been pleased to direct the publication, for general information, of the following despatch together with its enclosure, transmitting the Queen's Proclamation of the 28th April, 1856, announcing that the ratifications of a definitive Treaty of Peace had been duly exchanged, and commanding that the said Treaty be inviolably observed in all places.

SIR,β€”I transmit to you enclosed, the Queen's Proclamation of 28th instant, announcing that the ratifications of a definitive Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Her Majesty and Her Allies and His Imperial Majesty the Emperor of all the Russias, which was concluded at Paris on the 30th day of March last, have been duly exchanged, and commanding that the said Treaty of Peace and Friendship be inviolably observed in all places; and I am to signify to you Her Majesty's pleasure that you do cause the said Proclamation to be published in the Colony under your Government.

WHEREAS a definitive Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Us and Our Allies and His Imperial Majesty the Emperor of all the Russias was concluded at Paris on the Thirtieth day of March last, and the Ratifications thereof have now been duly exchanged; In conformity thereunto, We have thought fit hereby to command that the same be published throughout all Our Dominions. And we do declare to all Our loving Subjects
