PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation issued under the Public Seal of the Province, on the Thirteenth (13th) day of November, One thousand Eight hundred and Fifty-four, such part of the District of Wanganui situate on the Western side of the River Wanganui, as was comprised within the limits known as the boundaries of the purchased Block and the River, was declared a District for the purposes of the Act of the Provincial Council, Session 1, Number 21, intituled "An Act for making, maintaining, repairing, and management of Country Roads within the Province of Wellington."
And Whereas, by the District Highways' Act of One thousand Eight hundred and Fifty-six, it was enacted that all Districts proclaimed under the before mentioned Act should continue such for the purposes of the said Highways' Act of One thousand Eight hundred and Fifty-six, until altered under the provisions thereof: And Whereas it is deemed expedient to alter the boundaries of the District so proclaimed as aforesaid.
Now therefore I, ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Superintendent of the said Province, in virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby PROCLAIM and DECLARE that the District on the Western side of the Wanganui River proclaimed as hereinbefore mentioned shall be divided into two Districts, to be called respectively the Waitotara District, and the Tunuhaere District. That the boundaries of the Waitotara District shall be as follows, viz.:—
North East—the road known as the Waitotara line and Victoria Avenue.
South West—the Coast.
North West—the boundary of the Wanganui District
South East—Ingestrie Street in the Town of Wanganui, thence along the southern boundary of the said Town to the Wanganui River, and the said River.
And that the Boundaries of the Tunuhaere District shall be:—
North East and North West—the boundaries of the Wanganui District.
East—the river Wanganui from the North East boundary to the point where Plymouth-street in the Town of Wanganui strikes the bank, and thence along the Western boundary of the Town of Wanganui as at present defined.
Given under my hand, and issued under the public Seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, the thirtieth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six.
