purpose of nominating Two Persons to serve as Members for the "Hutt District" in the House of Representatives of the Islands of New Zealand aforesaid; and in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or any of them, such polling shall take place at such Mechanics’ Institute aforesaid, and at the other polling places as have been or may be by Public Notice appointed; on Saturday the Seventeenth day of November next; the voting to commence at any time after Nine o’clock in the forenoon of the said day, and to close at four o’clock in the afternoon of the said day.

WAIRARAPA AND HAWKE’S BAY DISTRICTS,

Province of Wellington.

To Wit.

WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of His Excellency THOMAS GORE BROWNE, Companion of the most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor, and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, &c, &c, bearing date the Fifteenth day of September, One thousand Eight hundred and Fifty-five, and under the Public Seal of the Islands of New Zealand aforesaid, hath been directed to me, Henry St. Hill, Esquire, Returning Officer for the "Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay Districts," reciting that the General Assembly of New Zealand has been dissolved, and that it is necessary that an Election of Members of the House of Representatives should now take place; and requiring and commanding me to cause to be Elected by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, One Person to serve as a Member for the "Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay Districts," in the House of Representatives of the Islands of New Zealand aforesaid.

Now THEREFORE, I, the said Henry St. Hill, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay Districts, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give Notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the "Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay Districts," will be held at the House of the Native Chief Maiheira, situate at Otaraia, in the Valley of the Wairarapa, in the Province aforesaid, on Monday, the Twenty-sixth (26th) day of November next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating One Person to serve as a Member for the "Wairarapa and Hawkes’ Bay Districts," in the House of Representatives of the Islands of New Zealand aforesaid; and in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or any of them, such polling shall take place at Warikaka Plains aforesaid, and at the several polling places in the said Districts, on Monday, the tenth (10th) day of December next; the voting to commence at any time after Nine o’clock in the forenoon of the said day, and to close at Four o’clock in the afternoon of the said day.

Porirua Road—The Residence of Mr. Best.

Manawatu—The Residence of F. Robinson, Esq., J.P.

For the Wanganui and Rangitikei District.

At Turakina—The Residence of J. Wilson, Esq.

At Rangitikei—The Residence of Captain Trafford.

For the Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay District.

At Wairarapa—The Survey Office, near Captain Smith’s residence.

The Residence of Mr. Kempton, at Greytown.

The Residence of R. Russell, Esq., at Wangamona.

At Castle Point—The Residence of Mr. Everett.
