THE following Letter is published for general information.

Auckland, June 17th, 1854.
Sir,—I have the honor by direction of His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government to acknowledge the receipt of your letter to the Colonial Land and Emigration Commissioners, stating that communications had been sent to the parties whose names were enumerated in the Schedules transmitted to England by Sir George Grey on the 17th June and 20th July, 1853, and whose friends here had requested they might be sent out to this country; and that it was proposed to despatch such of them as might be willing to emigrate and were eligible, as soon as the necessary arrangements could be completed.
To prevent disappointment and unavoidable delay, I beg leave to transmit the name of a person to whom, for the reasons stated, my communication could be made.

JOHN WEBSTER, of Wellington Terrace, in the City of Wellington, has been appointed provisional Inspector of Slaughter Houses, within the district under the Superintendence of the Corporation of the Borough of Wellington: duties to commence from the 1st August.
