REPORT
OF THE
PATEA EDUCATION BOARD
FOR THE PERIOD ENDING 31st DECEMBER, 1874.
PREAMBLE.
In compiling the following Report for the information of the Provincial Government, the Board have endeavoured briefly to show the state of the various schools as taken over by them, and also the action adopted by them up to the present time (a period of six months), together with an estimate of the funds requisite to carry out their views for the ensuing year.
PATEA SCHOOL.
The school-room used was an old and worn out building, very much dilapidated and totally unfit for the purpose, and a very meagre supply of books and an almost total absence of school fittings, maps, &c. Owing to these various defects, the attendance has been very irregular, and the scholars are not in such an advanced state as the Board could wish.
