Provincial Council, be made by the
Superintendent; and whereas the
Provincial Council of the Province of
Taranaki, by resolution of 24th June,
recommended the Superintendent to

Whereas by the \"Waste Lands Act,
1874,\" authority is given to the Super-
intendent to withdraw waste lands from
sale when it appears expedient for the
public interest to do so. I therefore,
in pursuance and exercise of the
authority so granted to me, hereby
withdraw the following waste lands
from sale :—

and I further declare that the number
of members which shall form the Board
of the said Town shall be five.

GAOLER\'S REPORT.

Gaol, New Plymouth,
1st July, 1875.
SIR,—I have the honor to forward
the usual report on the condition, &c.,
of the Gaol, for the half-year ending
the 30th June, 1875; and also the
half-yearly return of clothing and
necessaries in my charge for the same
period.

REPORT.

1. The greatest number of prisoners
   at any one period in the Gaol, during
   the last six months, were 12.
2. The average number of prisoners
   during the last six months were
   8 29/181.
3. Health of prisoners good.
4. Conduct of prisoners good.
5. Rations supplied by contract for
   prisoners.
6. Labor—prisoners were employed
   at the Hospital Reserve, Town Board,
   and Mount Eliot Reserve.—I have, &c.,
