EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS.
Superintendent’s Office,
New Plymouth, March 20, 1873.
In pursuance of a resolution passed at a meeting of the Board of Education, on Thursday, the 13th inst.—"That the Chairman be requested to call public meetings in the various school districts, to consider the subject of Education generally, with a view to future legislation on the subject."—Public meetings will be held:
For the Town of New Plymouth, at the Taranaki Institute, on Saturday, the 12th April, at 4 p.m.
For Tikorangi and Waitara, at the School House, Waitara, on Tuesday, the 15th April, at 8 p.m.
For Huirangi and Manutahi, at the School House, Manutahi, on Thursday, the 17th April, at 8 p.m.
For Bell Block, at the School House, Bell Block, on Tuesday, the 22nd April, at 8 p.m.
For Okato and Tataraimaka, at the Chapel, Tataraimaka, on Thursday, the 24th April, at 2 p.m.
For Oakura and Omata, at the School House, Omata, on Tuesday, the 29th April, at 3 p.m.
Meetings will be convened at Carlyle and Hawera at later dates, and due notice will be given.

ROADS AND BRIDGES.

In accordance with the provisions contained in the 49th clause of the Roads and Bridges Ordinance, 1, Fred. A. Carrington, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council, expressed by resolution of 17th March, 1873, hereby appoint
James Hirst,
of Carlyle, as Receiver of Rates for the 24th (or Hawera) Bond District, and the 25th (or Patea West) Road District.
