DISTRICT ORDERS.
Taranaki Militia Office.
January 14, 1873.
THE attention of the Officer commanding the District has been called to the circumstance that persons are in the habit of frequenting the Rifle Range at all hours and on all days during the week, and not under charge of any responsible person. It is now directed that this practice be discontinued, and that the instructions as under be strictly carried out:β

That no firing shall take place on the Rifle Range unless under the supervision of a member of the Permanent Staff.

That Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays be the days set apart for Rifle practice from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., and from 2 p.m. to sunset.

That persons desirous of engaging in Target practice on the above days must form themselves into a squad (of not less than five) and give notice at the Militia Office when a member of the Permanent Staff will accompany them to take charge of the Range.

That Tuesday be set apart for Rifle matches under the supervision of a responsible person (approved of by the officer commanding the District).

That Thursday be set apart for the Egmont Cadets, under the supervision of a member of the Staff.

That these regulations will not prevent the Officer commanding the District taking up, or giving permission on any of the above days for Government or other Rifle competition.

Any person found breaking any of the above Rules will be prohibited from taking part in any Rifle Shooting on the Range.
