having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency has not been advised to exercise his power of disallowance in respect of them.

QUARTERLY LICENSING MEETING.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Quarterly Licensing Meeting for the Licensing District of Taranaki, for the purpose of taking into consideration all applications for licenses, and for the transfer, renewal, or removal of such licenses, will be held in the Court Room in the Taranaki Institute, at noon, on Tuesday, the 3rd day of September, 1872.

SIR—I have the honor to forward the usual Report on the condition, &c., of the Gaol, for the half-year ending 30th June, 1872, and also half-yearly Returns of Clothing and necessaries in my charge for the same period.
REPORT :

The greatest number of Prisoners at any one period in the Gaol during the last six months was 10.
-
The average number of Prisoners during the last six months was 7 12-182.

The conduct of the prisoners good.
-
Rations supplied by contract for Prisoners.
-
Labour: Prisoners were employed at the Hospital Reserve, and with the Town Board.
