TARANAKI GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

THE following List of all Classified Officers in the Customs Department of Taranaki, New Zealand, is published in accordance with the seventh section of “The Civil Service Act, 1866,” and the ninth section of “The Appropriation Act, 1870.”

Name—Chilman, Richard (a).
Office—Collector.
Station—New Plymouth.
Date of first appointment—March, 1841.

FIFTH CLASS.

Name—Provis, John.
Office—Locker.
Station—New Plymouth.
Date of first appointment—1st July, 1864.

(a) Out of service, March, 1846, to September, 1853—7 years and 6 months.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the undermentioned appointment, viz.:

In the Egmont Rifle Volunteers.

John Ellis to be Lieutenant. Date of commission—24th February, 1871.

THE following Ordinance, passed by the Provincial Council and assented to by the Superintendent of Taranaki, intituled

“The Supplementary Appropriation Ordinance, 1870-71,”

having been laid before the Governor, his Excellency has not been advised to exercise his power of disallowance in respect of that Ordinance.

THOMAS JONES, late a Constable in the Armed Constabulary Force, Patea, deceased.

Under the provisions of “The Public Payments without Probate Act, 1869,” and the Regulations made thereunder, published in the New Zealand Gazette of 1870, page 212, the Colonial Treasurer intends to make a payment of money, due to the above named deceased, to a person not being his legal representative. All persons objecting to such payment being made must give notice to the Colonial Treasurer, at Wellington, within one calendar month from the date of the Gazette containing this notice, when their objections will be considered.
