"TURNPIKE ORDINANCE, 1870."

Superintendent’s Office,
New Plymouth, April 21, 1871.

WHEREAS in exercise of the authority vested in the Superintendent by an Ordinance entitled “An Ordinance to authorise the erection of Toll-bars and levying Tolls within the Province of Taranaki,” a Toll-gate was erected at the Whalers’ Gate, on the South Road; and whereas by proclamation of the Superintendent, bearing date the 25th November, 1870, the said Gate was extended to include that portion of the Omata Road opening into the Barrett Road and on the west side thereof; and whereas it is expedient to annul the said proclamation, and to alter the position of the said extension of the said Whalers’ Gate Turnpike Gate.

Now therefore I, FREDERIC ALONZO CARRINGTON, Esq., Superintendent, do hereby notify that the Whalers’ Gate Toll-gate is extended to include the Barrett Road from the intersection of the said Barrett Road with the Omata Road and on the south side thereof; and that the said southern boundary of the Omata Road, at the intersection by the Barrett Road form part thereof; and that Tolls are leviable thereat by the Toll Collector of the Whalers’ Gate Toll gate, from and after this date.

QUARTERLY LICENSING MEETING.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Quarterly Licensing Meeting for the purpose of taking into consideration all applications for Licenses and for the transfer, renewal, or removal of such Licenses under the “Sale of Liquors Ordinance, 1866,” will be held at the Taranaki Institute, at New Plymouth, on TUESDAY, the 6th day of June, 1871, at noon.

The sale will be held at the Taranaki Institute, New Plymouth, and will commence at twelve o’clock noon.
